The wind in the Navajo culture encompasses all of life. The "small wind" enters their bodies from the fetus and remains until death. It's the Western World's concept of a "soul". The "inner winds" flows through their body to make it move; around the hair whorl on the back of their heads and out their mouths to speak. Their prayers and offerings are carried by the "Wind People" to the "Holy People". The Winds are sacred and are the source of the Navajo means of life.
